I smell sports fever! [Sep. 17th, 2006|12:22 am]

[Tunage |Vicki Sue Robinson - Turn the Beat Around]

Hey Sports Fans! Did anybody catch the Manning Bowl? I think it was on last week. I don't know what it is, or what it means, but it definately happened (I think?). I heard about it on TV or an internet. It has the word "bowl" in it, so it pretty much has to be sports-related. Um ... there was some football on the TVs at Billy Barooz tonight when I went in to eat. Also there was a graphic of two baseball hats for some teams and the headline was "The Hunt for October." Fucking baffling.

Super Bowl-ed Over by a new Sportsblogbyted(tm) Entry!!!!!!!!!!!! [Feb. 5th, 2006|06:43 pm]

[Tunage |Mr. Big - To Be With You]

Hey superfans!!! It's back - Sports Blog (by Ted!)!

It's Super Bowl day, I guess, or evening now. I learned that because I went to tv.com to see if there was a new Simpsons tonight (there isn't). Otherwise, I wouldn't have known.

So who do you think is going to win?? Or, rather, who do you think is going to play? Because I don't know. Here are a list of football teams that I can think of, so they might be in the Super Bowl:

Jacksonville Jaguars
Carolina Panthers
Detroit Lions
Chicago Bears
St. Louis Rams
Indianapolis Colts
San Fransisco 49ers
Denver Broncos
New England Patriots
Washington Redskins
Baltimore Ravens
New York Jets

That's all I can think of. I know there are more, but whatever. Two of those teams or two teams that aren't listed or one team from my list and one team not on my list are playing in the biggest football game in the world tonight. Unless, of course, you mean football like what the rest of the world means when they say football. In that case the biggest football game is the World Cup. I think. But anyway it's a huge night for Coke and Apple and Beer. Oh boy, I sure could use a tall drink of the Rockies right now to quench my thirst and solidify my masculinity - anybody got some Currrs?

In other sports news the U of I basketball game fucked up Veronica Mars a few weeks ago, so that means that, yes, this year the U of I has a basketball team. And Roger Federer won the Australian Open in tennis. Goo'day, mate!

Oh also Lance Armstrong broke up with Sheryl Crow! I think she dumped him. Ten bucks says he gets cancer again just to get her back. Dunk!

[Tunage |The Bulls Starting Lineup Song]

Welcome to Sports Blog (by Ted)! This is your new one-stop spot for non-stop sports spotting! Let's "kick-off" with a "home-run," shall we? "Rebound"!

So as I was saying, this is my new blog, dedicated to sports. My name's Ted, and I don't really know all that much about sports or the sporting world, besides tennis, which I love dearly. Otherwise, I know very little. I don't plan on learning anything new or doing a single bit of research to write this blog, though. The idea is, I write a column once or twice a week summing up what I've noticed in sports. Given my non-interest in the subject, this should turn out to be quite an interesting "hat trick."

So without following any sports (besides tennis), I plan on writing about them anyway. Maybe I heard two minutes of an ESPN show my brother was watching. Maybe I'll catch a score on a television in a bar. Maybe I'll overhear somebody tell somebody else about a "draft pick." We'll see.

So stay tuned, my first real column will be written tomorrow or Thursday. Please add this to your friends page and keep up with it, it's going to be pretty sweet. I promise it will be funny, but not because I'm going to try too hard. I refuse to play dumb about something when I already am.

I hope I didn't "foul" any of you out there by starting this journal! I'm gonna go take a "fast break," so ...

see you in the batter's box,
~ Ted
